The International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians IFFR Scandinavian Section, invites all members of the fellowship and their families to Kiruna in Sweden
Thursday 14th of August 2014.
Arrival at Kiruna airport (ESNQ). Landing beer, Coffee, and snacks will be served.
Transfer to Scandic Hotel, Lars Jonassonsgatan 15, 981 31 Kiruna +46 980 39 86 00.
Kick-off with dinner, sauna, hot tub at Camp Aurora.
You will have dinner in the cabin at Camp Aurora. After dinner you will enjoy sauna and hot tub. The Camp Aurora located outside of the town, at the riverside of Torne river.

Visit at IRF and lunch.
The Swedish Institute of Space Physics (Institutet för rymdfysik, IRF) is a governmental research institute with about 100 employees. Its primary task is to carry out basic research, education and associated observatory activities in space physics, space technology and atmospheric physics. The research activities at IRF in Kiruna concern studies of phenomena in the Earth’s upper atmosphere, the ionosphere, and planetary magnetospheres.
Guided tour at Sami Visit center.
Visitor centre you can learn about Sami history and culture as one of the world’s indigenous people. Meet our reindeer, have a coffee in Café Sápmi and visit our handicraft shop.

Guided tour to underground mine (LKAB infoMine)
There are 500 kilometers of asphalt roads and a railway system at 850 meters under ground level. You are going down with the bus to the exhibition mine 540 metres below ground level.
Here you will be shown a video over LKAB and its evolution during the last 100 years.
The exhibition mine gives an excellent picture of modern mining techniques. Nearly 20 million tons iron ore is annually to be refined in the factories on the mountain.
The tour takes about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Coffee/tea and some cookies will be served during the tour.
Northern light tour with dinner.
We will drive out to the Camp Aurora for trying to have opportunity to see spectacular Northern lights. Guide will tell about phenomena, myths of Northern light. Dinner will be served during the tour.
